Some WIP Mechanicum

So been away from posting due to much going on in the real world.  I have been able to meditate ( IE paint models ) to get back to a more calm state recently and so far I'm pretty pleased with what has been produced.

First up are the Lava Pools from Mr Dandy.  A great terrain piece and super high quality resin. I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner at Adepticon this last year and want to buy some so bad, but due to my air travel I wanted to wait. Well fast forward and I received them the other day and promptly painted these bad boys to make my table pop.  This was my first time painting larger terrain pieces to a lets say better than mass produced quality.  Needless to say it led me to a positive attitude and so I started assembling more and painting.

Next up we have the Firestorm Redoubt.  I was at a loss of how to paint as most I have seen are bland or just primed. Once I noticed the little lights it was on though.  I added rust effects and lighting on the back of the fort as well.   Still need to add a few more "bling" accents though.

So this is the first of many pics I'll post on my newest army.  The Mechanicum!!! The Myrmidon Secutors are a bunch of bad asses for sure.  They tower over terminator models and have a pretty decent stat line.  This boy-o has the double grav weapon and a charged up power axe.  Pretty fun to paint as well.  I'm playing a all Mechanicum army in reg 40k games and most of the rules if not all aligned perfectly.  In fact I can point out more "op" stuff in reg 40k than in this army.  Lots of tank hunter and low AP weapons in this force.

Now the BIG BOY!   The Thanatar Automaton.  This guy is a beast.  MC with 8's all over his stat line. Even though he's a huge threat ( as most of the mechanicum are ) he really excels at supporting the entire army.  Give him Paragon of Metal and watch out!  He was a blast at painting and the Forge World resin was very very good.  One thing to note is the base.  I have those hexa-terrain kits and I really hate them.  So I have been make them into bits and adding them to bases.  Great mech style flock for those who want a flight deck base or ruined hi-tech battlefield.
